Automatic Greenhouse

Automatic Greenhouse is an ICT solution for farmers to auto-regulate their greenhouse. The system will auto-regulate the amount of light that gets inside a greenhouse, automatically irrigate it and control its internal temperatures in order to provide optimum growth conditions for the plants to be grown.

Biodegradable Plastic

Biodegradable Plastic team aims to reduce pollution by making biodegradable plastic from orange peels. D-limonene found in the peels (an ingredient in various cleaning and cosmetic products) combined with ethanol, furthers chemical reactions inside the peels under temperatures below 200C and enable the peels to take the shape of a specified mould.

Bottle-Walled Houses

Bottle-Walled Houses team utilises non-biodegradable waste products such as plastic bottles and in turn uses those materials to make affordable housing for slum residents, which improves the living conditions of the slum residents. The team recycles used plastic bottles to make the walls of a house which are reinforced by sand, cement, ballast and iron rods and bound by concrete and plaster. The team aims to create employment opportunities for the youth.

Gas Gauge

Gas Gauge team seeks to customize a regular gas tube with a measuring gas gauge and leakage detector. Following a fire outbreak from a gas leakage in their community, the team aims to increase user safety using the leakage detector and allow for proper gas monitoring with the gas measurement feature.

Green Portable Cooker

Green Portable Cooker team not only aims to reduce deforestation but also provide green and clean energy that can be used by individuals in their homes. The cooker converts solar energy (using solar panels), to electrical energy which is stored in batteries to allow for future use then converted to heat energy through a heating element that allows for cooking.

Kodagar Powered Chair

Kodagar Powered Chair team is an electric chair for physically impaired with the ability to ease user movement through various features. The chair will have added power advantage to ensure the user does not struggle while applying the mechanical force necessary to run it. It will have an adjustable flap for studying and writing purposes. Its brakes, gears, and all controllable units will be hand-controlled.

Mars Solar Desalinator

Mars Solar Desalinator team seeks to treat saline water using glass and solar energy, removing salt from the water. The team’s community in West Pokot County has few water sources, most of which are salty. The high concentration of fluorine leads to the discoloration of teeth and could lead to the destruction of various body organs taken in large amounts.

Mwalimu Information System team is a digital platform that is designed to aid teachers by easing the process of creating and editing documents necessary in their line of work. It will have templates for lesson plans, schemes of work and records of work enabling the teacher to create the documents in a short timespan.

Paper Mache Sculptures Ornaments team is recycling and repurposing newspapers, transforming them into decorative and aesthetically functional items. Using these newspapers, glue and other binding and decorative materials, the team seeks to engage youth and play a part in curbing unemployment in their society.

Usalama App and PRISM Intelligent System is an Integrated Police and Emergency Management Expert System as well as Applied Artificial Intelligence in Law Enforcement through Surveillance and Smart Data Analytics. It will provide a platform for police and emergency operators to have secure registration and view incident reports sent by the public through the app.
